Knitters Wanted !!!!


There is a lady in our church who responded to another lady in another church for knitters. She is asking for a call of help to family, friends and neighbors. Her request is for jumpers to be made for newborn, Aids suffering babies born in the African Continent, many who are sent home from hospital wrapped in newspaper for warmth.

The jumpers are to made from acrylic yarn (No baby pink, blue or white) bright and mixed colours are best as these garments may never be washed. The pattern is very simple and is in one piece. If you are interested in helping the pattern is below and you can email me for a forwarding address for the jumpers.

Knitting Pattern
Knitted all in one. Size 8 or 9 (old size) or 33/4mm or 4mm metric needles

Cast on 44 stitches.
Work 18 rows in K2, P2 rib.
Work 30 rows in stocking stitch ( 1 row plain, 1 row purl).
Cast on 12 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows, and at the same time change to K2, P2 (for sleeve)
Rib 22 more rows.
Next row: Rib 21, cast off 26 stitches, rib 21
Next row: Rib 21 turn needles cast on 26 stitches, rib 21
Work 22 rows in K2, P2, rib
Cast off 12 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows.
Work 30 rows stocking stitch.
Work 18 rows K2, P2 rib
Cast off.

You might try Boulderneigh blog - she is a knitter and posts with many other knitters as well. I believe they are Shetland sheep owners. Good luck - a very worthy cause.

That is very great what you are doing. You could also try setting up your page with an address for people to mail it to like the church. or to save postage. directly to the place it is needed. Then add that page to links like I have tried.Like the Works for Me Wednesday and others.. I can help you with that if you want.
What will be hard for some country's is like here in the us. It is more for postage the the cost of the item. So it would be cheaper for people here just to send money. It is also cheaper
here where I live to buy baby cloths on sale, than to buy the yarn to make them. So you may want to try a money donation to them also.

Awww! What a sweet idea. I hope many people do these.

I can knit, but only on round or straight looms and haven't graduated to sweaters and outfits yet.
