Epilepsy !

picture from art.com

My daughter is now out of hospital and is relaxing at home. They have diagnosed her with Epilepsy, the doctor said she was probably born with it but she has had only two incidents of seizures that we know of in her 25 years. She will not be able to drive for 6 months which she will find annoying but will cope with I'm sure. There is no urgency at the moment for medication but she will have to see the doctor in 4 weeks time. There are people out there with severe cases of Epilepsy and some that don't even know they have it, It seems my daughters case is mild and manageable. I have been reading up on it over the web so as to be enlightened and prepared, I think in this day and age no one can be free from some sort of illness or disorder.
Thank you to all of you who have had my daughter in your thoughts and prayers.

Sue

I am so happy for you that the diagnosis came back mild and manageable. Things could have been worse and a positive attitude goes a long, long way, I think. Thanks for keeping us posted.

You have such a gentle accepting and positive attitude about this diagnosis. I admire you. I'd be in a crumbling heap with worry. What a strong brave Mom you are. Your daughter will find you a true sense of hope and strength.

I think I remember you mentioning that your son in law wasn't driving either. Does he also have health issues that don't permit him to drive?

Prayers and positive thoughts sent your and your daughter's way :)

ps....The word verification today is:
"fambili"
Is that cool, or what? :)

I just had to add another comment, because I saw that the next word verification that popped up after my last comment is: "plenties".

Another good one.
I'm wishing plenties of happiness and joy! :)

Hi Sue,
My Mum is almost 70 and she was diognised only last year with epilepsy. Hers is mild also and kept under control with medication. Because of her age it took almost 4 years to find this out.

My thoughts are with your daughter.

Thank you for your kind words and for thinking of my daughter. My son-in law is almost blind in one eye and has lived near transport all his life so he wasn't worried about getting his drivers license but he might think about it now.

That was interesting about the word verification Lisa I never take much notice of them :)

It would be an extra worry for you and your mother now being diagnosed with epilepsy Tracie so late in her life..

I think you hit the nail on the head. Everyone seems to be struggling with some form of illness or other. It's as though we can't avoid it. I find it strange! My granddaughter was diagnosed recently with eosinophilic colitis. I'd never heard of it before and I'm a nurse!

I am glad your daughter has a diagnosis and is on the road to recovery. The good news is - there is medication if she needs it.
God Bless.
